Shaheer Sheikh and Rhea Sharma’s Yeh Rishtey Hain Pyaar Ke has premiered monday and here’s what we feel after the first episode…

Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai has been running successfully on small screen since a long time. Thus when Rajan Shahi announced a spin-off on it, everyone was left quite intrigued. Adding to the excitement, Shaheer Sheikh and Rhea Sharma were roped in the show. While many wondered what else can helmer Rajan Shahi present as the spin-off Mohsin Khan-Shivangi Joshi starrer, Yeh Rishtey Hain Pyar Ke talks about relationships, marriage, family ties but from a new perspective.

Our wait finally came to an end yesterday night and here’s our first impression of the show.

Story

The episode starts with Kuhu (Kaveri) and Mishti (Rhea Sharma) sitting at a dhaba amidst a beautiful location of Gujarat. While Kaveri is a carefree girl, Mishti is very reserved. They are poles apart and Kuhu never misses a chance to mess with her.

Meanwhile, Abir’s (Shaheer Sheikh) family is slowly established where Ketki (Trisha Chatterjee) has gone missing. Today is Ketki’s engagement and she has run away from the house as she is not ready to tie the knot without knowing the guy. Been Baa (Rupal Patel) asks Kunal (Ritvik Arora) to find Ketki and bring her back.

Kunal wants to involve Abir but Been Baa asks Kunal to keep him away from it as Abir has a habit of proving her wrong desperately. On the other hand, Kuhu get inside the bus and when Mishti tries to get inside its already full. She goes and sits on the bus top with Abir. However, they don’t see each other for once. But Mishti keeps on saving Abir from falling.

Ketki, Mishti, Abir and Kuhu all start their journey for Kutch festival. Kunal finally tracks Abir but misses Ketki. At Rajvanshi house, Ketki’s future in-laws reach the house and Ketki’s mother starts panicking. Kunal and Abir reunite and start searching for Ketki.

On the other hand, Ketki expresses her situation to Kuhu and Mishti and hides from Kunal and Abir. Kunal and Abir go on search for Ketki and the bus starts again. Mishti finds Ketki’s phone when they reach the destination and tries to make her understand. Meanwhile, Abir and Kunal track Ketki and take a U-turn. Mishti calls at Ketki’s home and tries to make her understand the situation. The story deals with how the leads challenge the orthodox practice of quick engagement and quicker wedding.

What is good?

Kaveri as Kuhu since the opening of the episode create an amazing impact. Visually the show gives a larger than life appeal since the opening. With lots of colour and amazing background score, the show connects from the first scene.

The character contrast of Kuhu and Mishti is well established through actions and dialogues. Rhea Sharma who is known for the role of Star Plus’s Tu Sooraj, Main Saanjh Piyaji makes a stunning impact in a completely new avatar and that’s commendable.

Character establishment and the set presentation is done vividly. Though Abir and Mishti never see each other yet Rajan Shahi weaves magic and you will want to see more of their chemistry. The entire episode has a good balance of emotions and will keep you at the edge of the seat. You are surely going to get eager to know what happens next.

What is not-so-good?

Rupal Patel playing the matriarch just like her stint in Saath Nibhaana Saathiya except the loud makeup seems to be a little typecast. However, it is just our first impression.

Verdict

If you are searching for something serious and a story based on societal problems then this show is strictly not for you. It is a simple tale of love that has only started taking a flight. It deals with relationships and emotional turmoil that one goes through. If you want to relax and enjoy a love story then it is a complete big yes.
